Meet Juliet Oduor Alwala

Juliet Oduor Alwala is a passionate children’s author, educator and creative visionary dedicated to inspiring young readers through stories that uplift and celebrate diversity. With over 10 years as a Montessori Educator in early childhood, Juliet brings a deep understanding of children’s emotional and cultural development into every story she writes.

The inspiration for her duet book “Smile with Malaika”, came after the birth of her daughter, who was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate. While searching for books featuring children of color and positive representation of cleft conditions, Juliet realized there were few stories that highlighted the beauty of differences and the strength found in self- acceptance. This gap sparked her mission to create stories that inspire, empower, and celebrate every child’s uniqueness.

Juliet’s storytelling is rooted in empathy and imagination, helping children discover the magic within themselves and the world around them. Through her daughter Malaika’s story, she encourages young readers everywhere to smile through challenges and embrace what makes them special.

Beyond writing, Juliet is committed to nurturing kindness, confidence, and inclusion - both in classrooms and through her creative work. She approaches every project with positivity and excellence, turning ideas into beautifully crafted stories and families alike.
